Welcome to our "Virtual Farm"!
We have included pictures of our farm, as well as information about how we attend to things, from breeding to health care in this page, so hopefully you will be able to get a clear veiw of our surroundings and how we opperate!
Our farm consists of goats for show and milk - chickens for show, eggs, and meat - call ducks, rabbits, and several pigs that we raise over the summer for meat. Last but definetely not least we have two dogs and many cats, as any farm should.
We have raised goats for about eight years, having started out with a Pygmy/Alpine cross named April, and very soon after that we added two Nubians. Now we raise Nubians and Saanens, and have about thirty goats, give or take a few depending on the season. We enjoy both of our breeds immensely, and have been breeding up both of them.
We purchased our first Nubian buck from Deb Smith. We now have a few from our own herd, as well as a couple that we purchased. As for Saanens, we started off with an unregistered doe about five years ago, and purchased our first Saanen buck in 2003. Just this summer we have added two more Saanen Bucks which we are very excited about.
We try to do as much as we can naturally, but we do use medication at times. We have a lot of pasture, so the goats are on grass
as long as possible! We have our own hay, so that is a big blessing! We bottle raise the babies and hand milk the does.
Each one is properly spoiled!
The girls show at our county fair. They have fun, and have done very well over the years. Michelle started raising
Holland Lops last year, and we have raised pastel and white call ducks.
We also make goat milk soap and lotion to sell. We sell during the summer at the local farmers market, and the rest of the year
we do several craft shows, and wholesale to a couple of retail stores.
